A solid grasp of economics theoretical basis and professional knowledge, have rigorous and realistic scientific attitude and style of study, and independently engage in the professional field of scientific research and have innovation ability; proficient in computer, master the methods of modern quantitative analysis; master a foreign language, and can read professional foreign language data; feel up to the professional teaching of this subject, scientific research and practical economic management.

VI. Research link and dissertation

1. The topic selection report of academic master's degree dissertation general is conducted in the third semester, the standard contents of topic selection report are as follows: (1) aim and significance of the topic; (2) research literature review at home and abroad; (3) research ideas, methods and innovations of the dissertation; (4) research content of the dissertation (list the chapter title); (5) writing schedule; (6) references.

The literature review shall put forward its own research ideas and methods based on the summary of others’ research results and comments. The time for the study of dissertation shall not be less than 1 year. Master's degree dissertation shall have innovative or new ideas and write in accordance with the requirements of the Writing Stipulation of Doctoral, Master’s Degree Dissertation of HUST. The number of master’s degree dissertation in this subject shall be more than 30 thousand words.

2. Master candidates shall actively take part in academic activities, at least deliver one-time academic report on public academic conference at school or outside during the Length of schooling. Before dissertation defense, applicants of academic master candidates may apply for the master’s degree dissertation defense only after meeting the following conditions,: at least published (or accepted for publication) 1 academic paper on the core journal (take the core journal of library of Beijing University as criterion) of Economics and Management subjects by the first author (or supervisor is the first author, student is the second author). Published papers must take the HUST as the first signature unit, and published papers affirmation is only limited to the academic papers published in the official journal, and the paper published in the supplement shall not be recognized.

The published academic achievements signed with HUST by graduate student or cooperatively signed (regardless of rank order) by student and teacher, which shall be subject to the review and signature with a written opinion by his supervisor; after graduate students obtain master degrees, published academic achievements completed in the length of schooling shall be subject to review and signature with a written opinion by his supervisor.
