Two of our students Eren Can GURBUZ (GÜRBÜZ) and Husna SOFIZADA, were awarded the honorary title of "HUST Outstanding International Students"

Recently, the list of HUST Outstanding International Students for 2023/2024 Academic was announced. Two of our students from the School of Economics, Eren Can GURBUZ(GÜRBÜZ) and Husna SOFIZADA, were awarded the honorary title of "HUST Outstanding International Students".
Eren Can GURBUZ, from Turkey, is a doctoral student of the class of 2021 in our school. In his studies, he is hard-working and self-disciplined, achieving excellent grades. In his academic research, he is dedicated and diligent, constantly exploring and striving for knowledge. His work focuses mainly on “export potential identification of Turkey (Türkiye) in China” under development and international economics science. During his Ph.D studies, he published a total of five papers, two of which were indexed in SSCI (Category B) and two in ESCI, and was awarded the HUST “Academic Excellence Award”. In terms of social practice, he highly values gaining knowledge through practice activities, and actively participates in the trips to Hangzhou and Yiwu organized by the School of Economics and International Student Office of HUST. Through these activities, he has gained an in-depth understanding of China’s economic development and current social conditions.
Husna SOFIZADA, from Afghanistan, is an undergraduate student of the class of 2023 in our school. In terms of academics, she is diligent and highly motivated. In extracurricular activities, she demonstrates her well-rounded athletic talent and an admirable spirit. She actively participates in various cultural and sports activities, including the school sports meet, marathon, taekwondo performance, Mid-Autumn Festival gala, and the "Hi, Wuhan" global video competition. She earned fourth place in in the 2023 International Badminton Friendship Match of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and won a bronze medal in the HUST International Student Dragon Boat Friendship Race. Additionally, Husna has extensive experience in social practice and volunteer work. She joined the aesthetic education volunteer team of HUST and actively participated as a volunteer for the dragon boat team and the "Bag It for the Planet" campaign.
The School of Economics always places great emphasis on the education and development of international students. Through organizing regular academic lectures, cultural exchange events, and social practice projects, the school strives to provide rich academic resources and cultural exchange opportunities for international students, creating a warm and inclusive environment to support their growth into well-rounded international talents. The School of Economics will continue its efforts to enhance internationalization level and contribute to the cultivation of outstanding economic talents with a global perspective.
